The FIFA World Cup is coming to North Texas this summer, and Frisco is in the middle of it. Toyota Stadium has been officially designated as a Team Base Camp Training Site, and the city is hosting a 39-day fan festival at Simpson Plaza. For a city that calls itself “Sports City USA,” this is the biggest stage yet.

Here’s what’s happening and how to be part of it.

Toyota Stadium: Official Base Camp

The North Texas FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee announced in March 2026 that Toyota Stadium will serve as a base camp for the winner of the UEFA Playoff Path B. The four teams competing for that spot are Poland, Albania, Sweden, and Ukraine. FIFA will assign the team after qualification wraps up later this month.

A base camp is the primary training and operational headquarters for a national team during the group stage of the tournament. The winning team will train on the Toyota Soccer Center’s fields, use the stadium’s performance and recovery facilities, and stay at a nearby hotel for several weeks in June and July.

For Frisco, that means international players, coaches, staff, and media descending on the area. FC Dallas president Dan Hunt called it “an incredible honor” and said the selection reinforces North Texas as the epicenter of the 2026 World Cup.

Toyota Stadium meets FIFA’s technical requirements with multiple training pitches, professional-grade recovery amenities, and secure team environments. The adjacent Toyota Soccer Center has 17 regulation-sized fields that have hosted international training camps for years.

Can You Watch the Team Train?

Possibly. Toyota Stadium’s layout makes it possible to see the practice fields from certain public areas around the complex. FIFA controls access during the tournament, so don’t expect to walk up to the sideline. But the area around the stadium is open enough that you may catch glimpses of training sessions.

Arrive early in the morning for the best chance. Teams typically train in the cooler hours to avoid the Texas heat. Bring water, sunscreen, and patience.

FC Dallas Soccer Celebration at Simpson Plaza

FC Dallas and the City of Frisco are transforming Simpson Plaza (in front of Frisco City Hall) into a 39-day fan festival running on every match day of the tournament. The FC Dallas Soccer Celebration will include large viewing screens, dedicated watch-party pods, interactive activations, live music on a central stage, retail specials, and a rotating lineup of local food and beverage vendors.

The festival is designed as Frisco’s fan central for the World Cup. Every match will be broadcast live, including games played during the MLS pause. It’s free and open to the public.

This is the local alternative to the official FIFA Fan Festival at Dos Equis Pavilion in Fair Park (Dallas). If you’d rather stay in Frisco than drive to Dallas, Simpson Plaza is where you’ll want to be.

World Cup Schedule: What’s Happening in DFW

The tournament runs from June 11 to July 19, 2026. North Texas is hosting nine official World Cup matches at AT&T Stadium in Arlington (temporarily renamed Dallas Stadium for FIFA regulations). That’s the most matches of any host city.

Group stage matches at Dallas Stadium include Argentina, Austria, Croatia, England, Japan, Jordan, and the Netherlands. A semifinal game will also be played there.

Frisco’s role is supporting, not hosting matches directly. But with a base camp at Toyota Stadium and a 39-day fan festival downtown, Frisco will feel the World Cup atmosphere as much as any city in the region.

Getting Tickets

Match tickets are sold through fifa.com/tickets. Demand is extremely high. If you can’t get tickets to matches at Dallas Stadium, the Simpson Plaza watch parties are the next best thing.

FC Dallas also offers a Club & Country Package for $35 that includes a limited-edition scarf in the colors of your chosen national team, a VIP watch party pass with drink vouchers, free National Soccer Hall of Fame admission, and discounted FC Dallas tickets. Available at fcdallas.com.

What to Do in Frisco During the World Cup

Beyond the fan festival and base camp, Frisco has plenty to fill a World Cup trip. The National Soccer Hall of Fame at Toyota Stadium is free on FC Dallas match days and worth visiting during the tournament. The Star, PGA Frisco, Riders Field, and the Rail District are all within a short drive.

If you’re visiting from out of town, hotels in Frisco and the surrounding area will book fast. Reserve early. The Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort are the two closest upscale options.

Tips From a Local

June and July in North Texas are brutally hot. Expect temperatures above 100°F regularly. If you’re attending the Simpson Plaza festival, bring water, wear a hat, and plan for shade breaks. Evening matches and watch parties will be more comfortable than afternoon ones.

Traffic around AT&T Stadium on match days will be intense. If you’re driving from Frisco to Arlington for a match, leave at least two hours early. Consider taking the DART rail from Parker Road station in Plano to CentrePort/DFW Airport station and ridesharing the last few miles.

The World Cup will put Frisco on a global stage. Whether you’re a lifelong soccer fan or just want to soak up the atmosphere, this is a once-in-a-generation event happening in your backyard.
