Summer in Frisco is intense. Triple-digit temperatures start in June and don’t let up until late September. But the city has enough indoor activities, pools, and evening options that you don’t have to hibernate for four months.
Here’s how to make the most of it.
Indoor Activities
Universal Kids Resort opens late 2026 and will be the biggest indoor/outdoor family destination in the city. If it opens before summer ends, it will instantly become the top summer activity. Keep an eye on universalkidsresort.com for the opening date.
KidZania is a kid-sized city where children role-play different careers. Fully air-conditioned and good for a few hours of entertainment. Best for ages 4 to 14.
National Videogame Museum has playable exhibits covering the full history of video games. A fun stop for kids and adults, especially on days when it’s too hot to be outside.
Topgolf Frisco has climate-controlled hitting bays. Order food and drinks to your bay while you hit balls. Not technically indoors, but the fans and shade keep it bearable.
Stonebriar Centre is the obvious fallback. Air-conditioned mall walking with 150+ stores, a movie theater, and a food court.
Pools
Omni PGA Frisco Resort has four pools including an adults-only rooftop infinity pool. You don’t need to be a resort guest to access the restaurants and bars, but the pools are for guests. Worth a staycation booking on a brutal weekend.
Riders Field Lazy River lets you float in a tube while watching a baseball game. Reservations required. A unique summer experience you won’t find anywhere else.
Frisco’s public community pools and splash pads are scattered throughout the city’s parks. Check the city’s parks and recreation page for locations, hours, and fees.
Evening Activities
The smartest summer move in Frisco is shifting your schedule to evenings. Temperatures drop into the low 80s after sunset, and many venues lean into nighttime programming.
The Swing at PGA Frisco is a lighted par-3 short course that plays music and has a bar cart. Playing after dark with the stadium lights on is the best summer golf experience in the area.
RoughRiders games at Riders Field are mostly evening starts. The ballpark atmosphere is at its best on warm summer nights. Check the promo schedule for fireworks nights and theme nights.
FC Dallas Soccer Celebration at Simpson Plaza runs for 39 days during the World Cup (June–July). Evening matches and watch parties are the way to go.
Movies at The Star are free outdoor screenings on the big screen at Tostitos Championship Plaza during summer months.
Rollertown Beerworks has a rooftop deck and beer garden in downtown Frisco. A cold beer on the rooftop after sunset is a solid summer evening.
Outdoor Activities (Early Morning Only)
If you want to be outside during summer, go early. Before 9 AM is the window. After that, the heat becomes dangerous for extended outdoor activity.
Cottonwood Creek Trail is shaded through much of its route, making it the most comfortable outdoor option. Joggers and cyclists hit it at sunrise.
Frisco Commons Park and Grand Park are both tolerable in the early morning hours. Bring water even if you’re only walking for 30 minutes.
Tips From a Local
Hydrate constantly. The Texas summer heat is not a joke. Heat exhaustion sneaks up on you, especially if you’re visiting from somewhere with milder summers.
Car interiors hit 150°F+ in direct sun. Use a windshield shade, park in garages when possible, and never leave kids, pets, or anything that melts in a parked car.
Restaurants with patios that have misters or fans become the most popular dinner spots in summer. Make reservations.
The best months to be outside in Frisco are October and April. If you’re planning outdoor activities, aim for those shoulder seasons instead of fighting the summer heat.
