What makes Stonebriar different

Plenty of malls have died over the past decade. Stonebriar went the other way. It sits in one of the wealthiest, fastest growing trade areas in the country, and its owners kept it full: more than 10 million visits a year move through its doors. When national chains open a first Texas location or a new concept store, this mall is often on the shortlist.

The layout is a long two-level racetrack with the anchors at the corners. Nordstrom and Dillard's hold one end, Macy's and JCPenney the other, with Dick's Sporting Goods in between. The food court sits on the upper level, and the AMC theater and Dave & Buster's cover entertainment on the same floor.

KidZania: the mall's biggest surprise

The upper level holds something no other American mall has: KidZania, a 100,000 square foot indoor city where kids age 4 to 14 role-play real careers, earn a currency called kidZos, and run the town themselves. It opened in 2019 as the first KidZania in the United States and remains the only one. We wrote a full KidZania Frisco guide covering tickets, hours, and how to plan the day.

Eating at Stonebriar

The upper-level food court handles the quick stuff, and full-service restaurants ring the mall itself and the outparcels around it. You can do a fast lunch between stores or a sit-down dinner before a movie without moving your car. The restaurant row along the Highway 121 side trades on the mall traffic and stays busy on weekend nights, so plan around 7 pm waits.

Parking and entrances

Surface lots surround the building, and each anchor has its own entrance. The trick is matching your entrance to your errand: park at the anchor closest to the stores you want instead of defaulting to the main entrances off Preston Road. The lots on the back side of the mall fill last on busy days.

Hours

The mall generally opens late morning and closes at 8 pm, with shorter Sunday hours and extended holiday schedules. Individual restaurants, the AMC, Dave & Buster's, and KidZania keep their own hours that run past mall closing. Check the official Stonebriar site before a special trip.

Beyond the mall

Stonebriar anchors a bigger retail pocket. The open-air Centre at Preston Ridge sits just up Preston Road with Target and the big-box lineup, and the rest of our Frisco shopping guide covers the Rail District boutiques and everything in between. Making a full day of it? The Universal Kids Resort is a ten-minute drive north.
