Things to Do in Frisco, TX: The Local's List

Updated July 7, 2026 ยท Downtown Frisco

Frisco packs more into 70 square miles than cities three times its size: an NFL headquarters, a new Universal theme park, pro soccer, minor league baseball, the PGA of America, and a historic rail town at its center. This is the list locals give visiting family.

1. Universal Kids Resort

The newest thing in town and the biggest. Universal's first theme park built for young families opened July 1, 2026 with seven lands based on Shrek, SpongeBob, Trolls, Jurassic World, the Minions, and Gabby's Dollhouse. Read the full Universal Kids Resort guide before you buy tickets, since pricing changes by date.

2. The Star

The Dallas Cowboys built their headquarters and practice facility on a 91-acre campus in Frisco, and much of it is open to the public. Tour the facility, watch open practices in season, and eat at the restaurants ringing the plaza. The Ford Center hosts high school games on the same field the Cowboys practice on, which is the most Texas sentence on this page.

3. Riders Field

Home of the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. It is regularly ranked among the best ballparks in the minors, and the lazy river beyond the outfield wall is exactly what it sounds like. Cheap tickets, warm nights, fireworks Fridays. Full details in our Riders Field guide.

4. The Rail District

Frisco's original downtown along Main Street. Historic storefronts, patios, live music, and the Frisco Heritage Museum, which tells the story of the rail line that named the city. Babe's Chicken Dinner House alone justifies the trip. Start with our food and drink guide for the eating plan.

5. Toyota Stadium and the National Soccer Hall of Fame

FC Dallas plays here, and the National Soccer Hall of Fame lives inside the stadium's south end. Match nights bring one of the loudest supporter sections in MLS; non-match days, the Hall of Fame stands on its own for soccer families.

6. KidZania

A city run by kids on the upper level of Stonebriar Centre, and the only KidZania in the United States. Kids work 50+ jobs, earn kidZos, and run their own economy for an afternoon. The KidZania guide covers tickets and timing.

7. Stonebriar Centre

The regional mall that anchors Frisco retail: 160+ stores, five department store anchors, an AMC, and Dave & Buster's. Our Stonebriar guide has the parking strategy.

8. PGA Frisco and Fields Ranch

The PGA of America moved its headquarters to Frisco and built Fields Ranch, two championship courses attached to the Omni PGA Frisco Resort. You do not need a tee time to enjoy the district: the resort's dining, putting greens, and practice attractions welcome walk-ins.

9. National Videogame Museum

Inside the Frisco Discovery Center, this museum walks through gaming history with playable consoles from every era, a giant Pong wall, and a recreated 80s arcade with working cabinets. Budget more time than you think.

10. Comerica Center

The Dallas Stars run their headquarters and practices here, and the NBA G League's Texas Legends play home games in the arena. Public skating sessions and youth hockey fill the ice the rest of the week. Details in the Comerica Center guide.

11. Frisco Commons Park and Hope Park

The city's flagship park pairs walking trails and ponds with Hope Park, one of the biggest community-built playgrounds in North Texas. It is the free afternoon that saves a family trip budget.

12. Frisco Heritage Museum

Small, cheap, and better than it needs to be. The museum and the heritage village behind it preserve the rail-town era, including a steam locomotive kids can get close to.

Build your day

Families: Universal Kids Resort or KidZania in the morning, Frisco Commons to burn off the rest, Rail District for dinner. Sports crowd: The Star tour in the afternoon, RoughRiders or FC Dallas at night. Shoppers: Stonebriar and Preston Ridge, then a patio on Main Street. Our Frisco facts page explains how a town of 6,000 people in 1990 turned into all of this.
